  ❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What differentiates Kraup KBS pumps from standard drainage pumps?

Kraup KBS pumps are engineered with advanced hydraulics, enhanced sealing, and corrosion-resistant materials. They handle continuous duty, high sediment, and fluctuating water levels. Integration with Slurry Pump design philosophy means extended wear life even in abrasive environments like sand, mud or mining runoff.

  2. Can Kraup KBS pumps be used as Slurry Pumps for heavy sludge?

Absolutely. Many models feature hard metal or rubber-lined wet ends, making them function as true Slurry Pumps. They handle solids up to 85mm, high density slurries, and provide excellent wear resistance in dredging, industrial waste and foundation dewatering.

  3. Are these pumps suitable for seawater and corrosive conditions (Middle East, Hawaii, shipwreck)?

Yes. Kraup KBS pumps offer duplex stainless steel, super duplex, or titanium options, plus specialized coatings. Combined with Slurry Pump wear technology, they resist both corrosion and abrasion from coral sand or saline electrolytes.

  4. How do Kraup KBS pumps reduce operational costs compared to rental pumps?

Lower energy consumption, minimal maintenance intervals, and longer lifespan. As seen in Argentina & Spain cases, replacing temporary pumps with Kraup KBS pumps cut flood-control and reservoir costs by 30-50%. Their Slurry Pump variants further reduce downtime due to wear parts replacement.

  5. What flow and head ranges are available for Kraup KBS & Slurry Pump models?

Flows from 50 m³/h up to 8000 m³/h, heads up to 90 meters. High-head Spain project used 75m head units; Australia salvage used high-volume 2500 m³/h pumps. Custom-engineered Slurry Pumps cover even extreme applications.

  6. Can these pumps run dry or handle intermittent operation?

Yes, Kraup KBS pumps include dry-run protection sensors (optional). The heavy-duty shaft seal and cooling jacket allow safe operation even in challenging intermittent conditions, typical for stormwater drainage or construction dewatering.

  7. Are there explosion-proof and hazardous area certified versions?

Yes, for oil refineries, chemical plants and mining — ATEX, IECEx certified Kraup KBS pumps and Slurry Pump versions are available with spark-resistant materials.

  8. How does installation & maintenance work for Slurry Pump configurations?

Quick-coupling system, easy impeller adjustment, and modular wear parts. Maintenance intervals are extended, and the design allows in-field liner replacement. This is proven in Vietnam and Hawaii port cases.

  9. Do you offer customized pump skids with control panels?

Yes, full turnkey solutions with VFD, soft starters, level control, and telemetry. Kraup KBS pumps paralleling systems have been supplied for Singapore emergency drainage and Canada dam renovation projects.

  10. Can a single pump handle both clean water and abrasive slurry?

The Slurry Pump variant with interchangeable wear parts can adapt: rubber lining for fine slurries, metal for coarse particles. Kraup KBS pumps provide the versatility to switch between stormwater drainage and sediment-laden water without sacrificing efficiency.
